CANCUN, Mx ? (July 1, 2011) Dog-loving guests at The Ritz-Carlton, Cancun can bring back home more than fond memories and make a difference while on vacations. Luxury travellers can volunteer one morning to connect with Rescate Malix, a non-profit animal rescue organization. Guests pay a US $39 dollar donation to Rescate Malix for the pleasure of grooming and bonding with these adorable four-legged friends. Once a month guests can visit Rescate Malix?s Rescue & Awareness Center, where they will get to wash, groom and exercise the adorable animals that have been rescued from living in the streets. It is a great and entertaining alternative for guests who like to socialize while on vacations. ?The Dog Wash project helps us to raise awareness for a culture of non-violence towards animals, a principle that is in the core of our values, while offering a unique and fun activity for visiting families and friends? mentioned Marco Ortlam, director of operations and owner of ?Boomer? a Labrador he rescued from a shelter back in the U. S.  ?Our guests enjoy the activity more than we would thought. One couple got so emotionally engaged with the project that on top of their donation they handed us $100 in cash for the much needed hip-surgery of ?Chiquis? one of the stray dogs at the shelter? mentioned Mr. Ortlam. While grooming the dogs and raising funds for Rescate Malix is a major focus, the Dog Wash program also helps to find permanent homes to these adorable four-legged friends. The organization has in place an easy process for visitors to adopt dogs and take them home. Many of our ladies and gentlemen already generously volunteer their time and resources to help Rescate Malix ?The real goal is education and awareness ? teaching the staff and locals how to care for dogs and prevent future stray animals? added Nora Rodriguez, training manager.
