Fentanyl Patch Use Needs Closer Supervision
COMMENTARY | The U. S. Food and Drug Administration released an advisory warning about dangers to children from fentanyl transdermal patches. Marketed as Duragesic, these skin patches contain a strong opioid drug that is absorbed into the body. I’ve not used fentanyl, but I’ve cared for a family member who was prescribed pain relief patches for a broken back. I’ve seen firsthand how easy it would be for patients to misuse fentanyl and endanger themselves and children.
