Sherman Hemsley Died Of Lung Cancer
The actor who played George Jefferson moved on up to that deluxe apartment in the sky over a week ago and now, we know what killed him. It was lung cancer. According to the El Paso County Texas Medical Examiner’s post-mortem report, Sherman Hemsley’s cause of death was “superior vena cava syndrome” — a complication derived from a cancerous mass attached to his lung. Sherman was advised by his doctors to get chemotherapy but we don’t know to what extent the treatment may have prolonged his life. The legendary star of The Jeffersons was 74 years old when he died in his El Paso home last month. We continue to send our thoughts and condolences out to his surviving loved ones.
