Chevy Chase Continues To Bash Community! Calls It The ‘Lowest Form Of Television’

Is Chevy Chase turning into an angry old man?The 67-year-old actor famously chewed out Community’s former showrunner, Dan Harmon, last spring and even though he’s back for season four, he’s continuing to bash the NBC comedy! In a recent interview, he described his decision to take on the role of Piers Hawthorne as “a big mistake” and insinuates that he’s only sticking around for the pay check. He continues to explain since sitcoms, like his own, are “probably the lowest form of television”, he can’t wait to get back into movies. If he thinks this show is worse than VH1’s Rock Of Love, he must REALLY hate his job! At least he likes working with the cast — even if they aren’t “the great innovators of all time. “That’s a nice compliment back-handed insult, right? He doesn’t need to kiss their butt and inflate their ego, however, he could refrain from the subtle jabs at their level of talent. Maybe we’re just misinterpreting everything the guy is saying since we’re reading it off of the page and not actually hearing him say it. Maybe like Mr. Harmon, we’re just not getting Chevy’s “kind of comedy. ” Check out his responses for yourself . . . AFTER THE JUMP!!!Q: Why did you decide to do a TV show after doing so many movies?”It was a big mistake! I saw this pilot script, thought that it was funny, and I went into the room where they were casting and said, ‘I would love to play this guy. ‘ Then they mulled it over. Then they hired me and I just sort of hung around because I have three daughters and a wife, and I figured out I might as well make some bread, every week, so I can take care of them in the way they want. My wife has just been in the Antarctic, and Cuzco in Peru, and Lima, and Machu Picchu. . . she likes to travel. That was about a month of travelling, and that will take about a year of work. “Q: Do you enjoy doing TV?”Well, what else have I done, besides a lot of movies? I prefer movies because the money is better and certainly because you really know where you stand when you are making movies, and I have made a lot of them: 50 something, I don’t know. The hours in this kind of show are not commensurate with the actual product. The hours are hideous, and it’s still a sitcom on television, which is probably the lowest form of television. That’s my feeling about it. I think the reason I have stuck around is because I love these kids, the cast – they are very good. It’s not like I am working with the great innovators of all time, but at the same time, they are my friends and I am out, and one of my daughters is out here, and wants to be in the business, so she is living with me. I will have some time off and I will be looking for a film, which I think will be my next thing, my next move. “A simple no probably would have sufficed. Ha![Image via WENN. ]

  1. SENILE!

  2. It seems evident, when watching him on Community, that he doesn’t care about what he’s doing–which makes him not fun to watch. And unprofessional.

  3. What do you mean “turning into….”? He is a NOTORIOUS PRICK from way back. He’s been rumored as one of the biggest assholes in the business. Where you been?

  4. Its one of the worst kept secrets that Chevy Chase is an a-hole. Not surprised by this or his comments about Louis C.K. Just trying to stay relevant.
